It seems that there are a couple of new Twitter scams doing the rounds at the moment.  I've had direct messages from a couple of people that I follow over the last few days which appear to show their accounts have been hacked and the spammers/scammers are using them for nefarious purposes.

The first Twitter scam seems to be along the lines of the old Facebook "I saw you in this video" scam that was prevalent a while back.  I've had DMs with text that says "Hey, is this you" and a shortened link that directs you to a page asking for Twitter login details, obviously this isn't a real Twitter login page and once you enter your details the scammers will have access to your account via which they can send more of their DMs to your followers in order to try and get their details.  Quite what they intend to do with a load of Twitter accounts is unclear yet although the next Twitter scam may provide a clue.  It also seems that the URL shortening services are identifying the scams and disabling the links as having tried to access the links again today I no longer get taken to a login page.

So the second Twitter scam I've seen again consists of a direct message, this time challenging me to take a quiz.  This time the link takes me to the page in the screenshot below:

The text at the bottom of the page talks about a mobile subscription service which I assume you will get signed up to if you go through the process of taking the quiz (personally I didn't want to click through on anything to find out!).

So are people really sharing quizzes via Twitter or is the purpose of the scammers stealing twitter account details to drive traffic to their quiz site and generate some revenue from the mobile subscriptions?  I've had a look around the internet and couldn't find any particularly helpful info.
